Gracie is quite very sad today. Her Uncle Brent needed to be moved to an assisted living home today. His dementia has been steadily and quickly progressing for the past half year or so. At his last doctor's appointment Mommy was told "It's time" for him to receive more intensive care.
Mommy is very sad too. She has been caring for her little brother her whole life.
Not long after Mommy and Dadda got married Gramma AJ and Uncle Brent moved in as AJ was herself starting to present with dementia. She too needed more help not long after Gracie was born.
Brent stayed with Gracie and became her first and best friend. He was always there to sit and play with her. He always showed great love, devotion and protection for Gracie. He lived here at Gracie's for nearly 14 years. Dadda has lived with Brent longer than all but 2 of his 8 siblings.
Fortunately Brent will be living nearby and Gracie will be able to visit him often. Sadly, his memory has been fading fast.
He will be in a house with just a few housemates. He will be missed here by the whole family.

I'm so sorry about this. Gracie is learning about loss at such a young age. She's smart and has loving parents to help her through all this. You'll all do it together.

I am so grateful for your many years of loving care for our Mom and our baby brother Brent. Your family has been blessed I am sure, but you have also sacrificed time and effort and privacy and lots of other choices that were not compatible with that care. I hope you can find many positive things about your new opportunity to be dad and mom and child even as you all work through the changes. Thanks for so very many years of loving and caring that extended beyond your own individual family.
